This is a good quality frame designed for people who are not that confident with technology. I spent quite a bit of time looking at different frames before deciding on this one as a gift for my mother and father in law. Some frames have a load of additional features: they play videos; they have clock radios etc…. This frame has just the basics, but everything that it does, is intuitive and straightforward.
The high quality 800×600 screen delivers a clear and sharp image and let’s fact it, that’s the really important part. The 2GB internal memory will hold upto about 15,000 images. As standard you can transfer images to the screen by use of Memory Card (MMC/SD/SDHC/xD/MS/MS Pro/MS Pro Duo/MS Duo-HG) or USB drive. As soon as you connect one of these devices the screen switches to showing the pictures held on that device and then asks if you want to import them onto the screens memory. If you hit yes, the screen will automatically start re-sizing the images to the optimum file size and resolution for the screen. You can use a USB cable to drag images across to the frame – the screen takes a standard mini USB cable – but the cable is not included and the frame will not automatically resize the pictures (meaning the memory will quickly fill up and things will happen slower). I selected about 1500 pictures from my hard drive to get things going and popped them onto a USB Drive. The frame then took about an hour or so to import the images and re-size them accordingly.
Other things I like about this frame included the really simple remote control – three or four good sized buttons that are clearly labelled. The remote control can be stored on a magnetic pad on the back of the frame, which I thought was a really nice touch.
My mother and father in law are always going around switching lights off and complaining about the cost of electricity. This frame is Energy Star qualified. It has an activity monitor which turns the frame off when there’s no-one around and turns it back on when you’re nearby. Along with the ease of use, this was probably one of the biggest selling points for us.
If you look about, you will be able to find yourself a good quality frame with loads of features for less money than the Kodak P850. The Jessops branded frames were particularly impressive and you’ll get a lot more bang for your buck. In honesty though, I don’t think that’s what this frame is about. If you’re after a good quality and easy to use frame from a well know brand, you won’t go far wrong with this.

I think this is a decent frame on the whole, but I just wanted to share my gripes in case they help anyone else in making a decision:
1. There is no option to just display pictures. You have the choice of ‘pictures plus juddery wipes’ or ‘pictures plus juddery fades’ or ‘pictures in collages’, but I can’t find a way to just show pictures.
2. Although it has an orientation sensor (good!) it only checks it in-between pictures. So if you are handing the frame round to show people, you have to predict whether the next photo coming up is portrait or landscape.
3. General operation speed is just slow enough to be annoying. The designers have included pretty menu animations and so on without making the device powerful enough to do them speedily.
Notwithstanding the above, it does the job. If it was for me, I’d look at other options.

This review is from: Kodak P850 8 inch Digital Photo Frame – Black (Electronics)
The frame looks good and performs well when showing photos – so is fine for most of the time you use it.
The stand is a bit rubbish – I’ve had to prop it up using some foam to adjust the height for the best viewing angle.
The remote storage is great.
There are limited slideshow options.
The speed of menu operation is terrible…it is really slow. It also seems to have a ‘bug’ that kicks in now and again when the frame seems to re-start and it shows the same photos over and over rather than doing the ‘random’ setting. I need to restart the frame and menu to trick it into working again!
Overall, if you’re prepared to put up with these issues (which I am just about to save hassle sending it back) then it displays a lot of photos to a good standard.
