Bargain for the price!,
The Toshiba Camileo P10 is an excellent replacement for both digital camera and camcorder. Once the controls are mastered, it is extremely easy to use for stills or video. With an 8GB SDHC card it will store over 2 1/2 hours of video at the WVGA setting, or store 3400 photos at the standard (5MP) setting. These are the settings I would recommend, as the WVGA setting uses 60 f/s making fast action smoother on playback, and 5MP is the highest setting without using interpolation for photos. The HD settings are OK, but fast movements can look jerky. Slow-action HD looks great on a 42″ HD TV! The rechargeable lithium battery seems to last for over an hour, but a spare one is always usefull (same NP60 as used in Fuji digital cameras, apparently)
The only point against this little marvel is probably true of all current cams that only have an LCD screen——-you just cannot see the picture in bright sunlight. Why do manufacturers insist on providing LCDs but not proper viewfinders any more?

|Suitable for wedding speeches,
It’s given us good service. Sound quality was good enough to pick up the speeches at our wedding (it’s intended use) and whilst probably isn’t cinema quality, it suits our needs (other than the wedding we’ve been using it to mess around with). Software and coding doesn’t work automatically with a macbook which is a ball ache, but if you have access to windows then it’s easy to chop and play around with your footage to create some kind of compilation.
If you film in HD and run the end result through a TV using an HD cable then the picture is noticeably better. Decent value for money in my book.
